NOC/ IP-addresses/ Reverse Zone Delegation

General info about backresolving:

Reverse zone delegation procedure for Lucky Net customers:

There are 3 options available to receive reverse resolving of networks from Lucky Net address space:
  • send an email message to hostmaster@lucky.net specifying "IN PTR" records for Your network - we suggest you use this option only if you cannot configure your own names server or if you have small networks (not more than /28), or when the reverse resolving is changed frequently;
  • delegate reverse zone to ns.ripe.net (for the /24 and higher networks);
  • classlessly delegate reverse zone to ns.lucky.net (for networks /28-/25).
How to delegate reverse zone:
  • Configure the appropriate reverse zone for your network on your names server. The configuration is same as for direct zones for domain names. Specify ns2.lucky.net as mandatory "secondary&qout; (here you can find the info on how to make the zone secondary on ns2.lucky.net).
  • Send the request to hostmaster@lucky.net for this reverse zone. Use the RIPE-049 form to do this.
If that's the classless delegation, then the procedure is as specified in RFC 2317 (you should always remember about recommendations for reverse zones names, contained in RFC 2317).

For /24 networks and higher hostmaster@lucky.net will send the request to RIPE, where the delegation of reverse zone to ns.ripe.net is done (it might take a few days).
